Converting Binary to Hexidecimal
1.Split the binary number into groups of four bits
2.Under each group of four bits write the equivalent hexadecimal number.
E.g. convert 10100101
Split in to groups of 4.
1010 0101
Write the hexadecimal underneath
1010 0101
A 5
So 10100101 is A5 hexadecimal
Hexidecimal to Decimal
To convert a two digit hexadecimal number to decimal.
1.The digit on the right stands for unit.
2.The digit on the left stands for 16s
E.g. convert 3B to decimal
So digit 3 stands for 3 x 16
3 x 16 = 48
The column shows the digit B in the units column.
B = 11 in hexadecimal. So this digit stands for 11 x 1
11 x 1 = 11
§Add the two values together
48 + 11 = 59
So, hexadecimal 3B = decimal number 59.
